IIT(ISM) is located in the heart of Dhanbad city, the Coal Capital of India. Despite being located amid the city, the campus has a life of its own with hustling bustling greenery, a proactive student family that is always involved in conducting various interesting events all year round, and the people for whom the campus is a source of livelihood. The calm and serene environment along with rich architecture provides the perfect atmosphere that ensures that the students have peace of mind and that they live in a healthy atmosphere away from the pollution in the rest of the city.
With most of the everyday facilities needed like - a gym, a post office, ATMs, a fully equipped health center, a shopping complex (in the process of being built) already present on campus, the students will seldom have to go outside the campus for their basic necessities. Besides, being located in the middle of the city gives the people residing on campus the edge of having everything at an arm's reach. There are also plenty of restaurants and two major shopping malls for students to take a break when they feel like going out of campus.
